Lotus Drivers: 'We Need A Miracle'

Even though the Lotus engines are down on power, Sebastien Bourdais and Oriol Servia have shown that they can race.

There's no telling what might happen at today's 38th Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The fastest cars in the field have been penalized 10 positions on the starting grid because of of unauthorized engine changes by the Chevrolet-powered teams.

Even though the Lotus engines are down on power, Sebastien Bourdais and Oriol Servia have shown that they can race. Bourdais finished ninth in the last race, and Servia—after starting in last place—improved 13 positions.

But can Lotus actually win after the green flag drops?

Probably not.

"At this point to win a race, we almost need a miracle," said Oriol Servia, who drives for Dreyer and Reinbold Racing. "It could happen, but we need a miracle."

But this is the first time this season that the IZOD IndyCar Series will open the pits for caution periods, and with the fastest drivers starting mid-pack, it could get pretty wild.

In the morning practice Sunday, the fastest drivers were Ryan Hunter-Reay (starting position 13), Scott Dixon (P5), Rubens Barrichello (P22) and Will Power (P12).
