Felix Baumgartner is The Man.

On Sunday in New Mexico—actually, 24 miles above New Mexico—Baumgartner jumped out of a 55-story helium balloon and began a record-setting plummet toward earth.

For more than four minutes, Baumgartner was in free fall. At one point, he broke the sound barrier.

In the end, the Austrian daredevil reached a maximum speed of 833 mph before he pulled the plug on his parachute and floated floated about 15 minutes to earth.

The sound barrier is about 690 mph. Coincidentally, Baumgartner broke the sound barrier on the 65th anniversary of Chuck Yeager making the first supersonic flight in the Bell X-1 rocket plane.

Baumgartner also broke the record for highest skydive, and became the fastest man alive.

He was loaded with plenty of data sensors as well, which may help create the next generation of space suit and life-saving procedures as John Q. Public gets closer to space travel.
