Rancho Santa Margarita Is The Safest City In CA, Per Safewise

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Rancho Santa Margarita was once again ranked the safest city in California by Safewise in their 2024 Safest Cities Report.

According to Safewise, Rancho Santa Margarita has a violent crime rate of .4 and a property crime rate of 4.8 incidents per 1,000.

Safewise also said that of the 77 cities that were considered, Rancho Santa Margarita was one of two cities that reported zero murders and zero rapes — the other city being Yorba Linda.

This is the second year in a row that Rancho Santa Margarita has claimed the top rank in Safewise's annual report.

According to Safewise for the purposes of this report, the terms “dangerous” and “safest” refer explicitly to crime rates as calculated from FBI crime data—no other characterization of any community is implied or intended.
