RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Richard Colarossi who nominated Ellison Colarossi of Rancho Santa Margarita.

How do you know the star local student?
My daughter
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Ellison graduated from Tesoro High School in 2020. She attends the University of Tennessee and is majoring in elementary school education. She is a pole vaulter for the University of Tennessee. She is competing to be one of the top pole vaulters in the SEC. Her freshman year was wrecked by Covid and she had a back injury in her sophomore year which she red shirted. She started off the SEC indoor season with several PR's and is on her way to compete with the top girls in the country. She has a great story to share about her track and field career in high school and college. A story about never giving up and overcoming mental and physical hurdles.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
She is an example for young athletes. Focus on your goals and be dedicated and persistent in your journey. Ellison is well rounded and balanced. She carries a 3.9 gpa and does volunteer work in Knoxsville, TN.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Ellison Colarossi!
