Readers' Choice: Vote for Your Favorite Local News Source

Patch wants to know where you turn for local news and why.

Editor's Note: Voting in the poll will close at 11:59 p.m. on August 17, 2012.

Newspapers are dying. And although newspapers are getting smaller, the amount of news hasn't diminished. It's still out there.

So Patch wants to know your favorite local news source.

Yep, this is about community. The Trabuco Canyon News, for two decades, was delivered to more than 20,000 doorsteps. When it departed in December, 2010, Patch.com came along, joining the Coto de Caza News, O.C. Weekly, the Orange County Register, the Los Angeles Times. Maybe you turn for your news to radio or TV, though it's not like electronic media is camped out on the door of City Hall.

It was suggested that this might be a bad idea, that someone out there might stuff the ballot box. Nothing like losing your own poll, right?

No guts, no glory. You don't become national champion by dropping the strong teams from your schedule.

So tell us where you turn and why. Maybe it will make Patch a better local news source, maybe it will give us confidence, maybe it will mean we write about your kid when school begins in September.

We'll take nominations until July 9, at which point we'll create a mega-poll to determine the Readers' Choice Awards 2012.

We want your vote, but we want to make sure we earn your vote.

Editor's Note: This poll will have no bearing on whether we write about your kid when school begins in September.
