RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Sharyn Konick who nominated Dylan, a 10th Grade student of Rancho Santa Margarita.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

In addition to being an Honor Roll Student, National Honor Society member and member of the CUSD/CCA Robotics Team, Dylan is also a volunteer puppy raiser for the nonprofit, Guide Dogs for the Blind. He encouraged his family to become involved during the pandemic and over the past few years he has taken on even more responsibility at the local level co-chairing community events to help educate the public about recruiting new puppy raisers. Dylan also started the Service Animal club at Tesoro High School and is working on fundraising projects to help his local GDB Puppy Club.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Dylan is a compassionate young man who puts others' needs before his own. As a volunteer puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, he spends countless hours training, socializing and loving these puppies so that they can grow up to become service dogs for those in need.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Dylan!
