Walmart Grocery Is Open For Business

The Walmart Neighborhood Grocery is officially open for business. The second store in California opened Wednesday in front of hundreds who watched, cheered and then purchased.

Occupying the former storefront of Circuit City in the Lowe's shopping center—a good stone's throw from Big Lots! which opened a little more than a year ago—Walmart hired 65 employees, many of them local and the majority of them fulltime.

Mayor Tony Beall said he thinks the arrival of the Walmart grocery will be good for business in the center, and drive competition at other markets that will benefit the consumer.
