
One man died and three others were seriously hurt in a rollover crash early Sunday on the 210 Freeway near the 215 split in San Bernardino, and at least one of the injured was treated at Loma Linda University Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 2:20 a.m. June 16 when a westbound 1997 Nissan Maxima veered off the 210, struck a guardrail and went down an embankment, leaving three occupants of the vehicle partially ejected, CHP investigators said in a statement Monday.
The Maxima came to rest on Little Mountain Drive, according to the coroner.
"One passenger suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by emergency personnel," CHP investigators said. "The driver and remaining passengers were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries."
The deceased passenger was identified by the coroner as Sergio Carlos Escalera, 23, of Muscoy.
The surviving passengers were identified by the CHP as Chris Boyd, 22, of Rialto, and Trinidad Padilla, 21, of San Bernardino.
The driver, identified as Julian Lopez Juarez, 21, of San Bernardino, is facing manslaughter charges, according to the CHP.
All four men were wearing seat belts.
