Where does this school hero work?

Maple Hill Elementary

Please describe why this individual is a hero at your school.

In my 37 years of teaching at Maple Hill Elementary, I have worked alongside many custodians, but none like Jon Jackson. He truly goes above and beyond each day, embodying the spirit of a school hero and making life a little easier and a lot brighter for everyone around him. Jon is the kind of person who offers help before you even ask and always with a smile on his face. He works tirelessly and brings joy wherever he goes. He shows genuine empathy, acknowledges birthdays, and makes every staff member feel valued. Jon also has a remarkable way of connecting with people. Whether it’s students, staff, or parents, he knows students by name, encourages them, and builds relationships that make a lasting impact. One example stands out in particular. After COVID, I had a student who returned to school very nervous and timid. Mr. Jackson went out of his way to connect with this child by taking the time to talk with him, share fun jokes, and create a safe and welcoming space. Through his kindness, Mr. Jackson helped the student overcome his fears and grow more confident. Stories like this are why we all agree that Jon Jackson is truly a hero at Maple Hill Elementary School. Even after tragedy hit his family, he continues to exemplifies what it means to be a behind the scenes MVP, and we are lucky to have him as part of our school family.
