How Much Do You Know About The Redlands-Loma Linda Area?

The Redlands-Loma Linda area is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Redlands-Loma Linda has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Redlands was once the center of the navel orange industry in the U.S. and still celebrates its citrus heritage with the annual Redlands Citrus Festival. Visitors can also take a tour of the historic orange groves and packing houses to learn about the city's citrus history.
  • The Lincoln Memorial Shrine in Redlands is one of only a few dedicated solely to the 16th US President. The shrine features exhibits, artifacts and documents related to Lincoln's life and legacy, and offers guided tours and educational programs.
  • Loma Linda is also known for its vegan cuisine, with a variety of plant-based dining options available throughout the city. The Loma Linda Market, a vegetarian grocery store and restaurant, is a popular destination for those looking for healthy and sustainable food options.
  • Redlands is home to the historic Fox Theater, which opened in 1929 and has hosted a variety of performances over the years, from vaudeville shows to modern concerts. Visitors can take a tour of the theater and learn about its history, or attend one of the many events or movies shown there throughout the year.
  • The Redlands Bowl is an open-air amphitheater in Smiley Park that has been hosting free summer concerts and performances since 1924. The Bowl is one of the oldest continuously running free concert series in the United States and features a variety of musical and cultural events.
  • The Loma Linda Farmers Market, held on Sundays, features a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and other locally grown and produced goods. Visitors can also enjoy live music and food vendors at the market.
  • The San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands features exhibits on the natural and cultural history of the area, including displays on the region's geology, paleontology and Native American culture. The museum also hosts special events and educational programs throughout the year.
  • The A.K. Smiley Public Library in Redlands is a historic library that dates back to 1894. The library features a variety of books, special collections and exhibits on the history of Redlands and the surrounding area. The library also hosts events and programs for all ages, including book clubs, storytimes and author visits.
  • The Kimberly Crest House & Gardens in Redlands is a Victorian mansion built in 1897 that features beautiful gardens and architectural details. Visitors can take a guided tour of the house and gardens and learn about its history.
  • Loma Linda is home to a number of hiking trails, including the Santa Ana River Trail and the Box Springs Mountain Reserve. These trails offer stunning views of the surrounding area and a chance to get some exercise in the great outdoors.
  • The Redlands Art Association is a nonprofit organization that supports local artists and hosts a variety of art exhibits, classes and workshops throughout the year. Visitors can browse the gallery and purchase unique pieces of art.
  • The Burrage Mansion in Redlands is a historic estate that was built in 1901 and features beautiful gardens and architectural details. The mansion is available for private events and weddings, and visitors can also take guided tours of the property.
