Yuhaviatam: Redlands-Loma Linda People Can Deal With Heat

Before ranchos, railroads, citrus groves and air conditioning, people who lived near Redlands and Loma Linda called themselves Yuhaviatam: people of the pines.

Spanish explorers called the locals Serrano, mountain people, because they spent time at higher elevations, especially when it got hot in the valley.

Today and through the weekend there's an excessive heat warning from the National Weather Service for Redlands, Loma Linda and the rest of the Inland Empire.
