1 Dead, 5 People Rescued From Capsized Boat In South Bay
According to reports, a person died and five others, including a child, were rescued after a boat overturned off the coast of the South Bay.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — A man was killed and five others, including a child, were rescued after a boat capsized in the ocean off of Redondo Beach Sunday afternoon, according to reports.
Authorities told KTLA that both the Los Angeles County and Redondo Beach fire departments responded to reports about a capsized vessel about a mile off the coast from Avenue C in Redondo Beach at 1 p.m.
Rescuers at the scene were able to find five people, including a child and the captain of the boat, holding onto an overturned 25-foot boat, according to reports. The rescued people were all taken back to shore at around 2:30 p.m., KTLA reported.

While divers investigated the boat, they found a sixth person, who had gotten trapped in the boat as it capsized. Deputes rescuers' attempts to save the man's life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The survivors were taken to the hospital and were said to be in stable condition.

It's unknown what caused the boat to capsize. The sheriff's department and the United States Coast Guard are investigating the incident.
