1 Motorcyclist Dead, 1 Hospitalized In Redondo Beach Crash

According to witnesses, one of the motorcyclists possibly hit a curb, then hit the other rider, Redondo Beach police said.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A motorcyclist died Saturday morning from injuries after a crash with another motorcyclist in Redondo Beach.

The crash occurred in the 1700 block of Aviation Boulevard, south of Artesia Boulevard, at 12:05 a.m., according to Lt. Shawn Freeman of the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Per a preliminary investigation, both riders were traveling southbound on Aviation Boulevard when, according to witnesses, one of the motorcyclists possibly hit a curb, then hit the other rider, Freeman said.

Both motorcyclists sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash and were taken to a hospital, where one of the riders died, Freeman said.

The motorcyclist transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance was pronounced dead from his injuries at 12:39 a.m., according to the coroner's office.

His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
