Authorities ID Motorcyclist Killed In Torrance Crash

Officials Tuesday identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a crash with an SUV in Torrance.

TORRANCE, CA — Authorities Tuesday identified a motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with an SUV in Torrance.

Arthur Maloles, 44, of Winnetka died at the scene about 3:20 p.m. Monday at Hawthorne and Lomita boulevards, according to the coroner's office and the Torrance Police Department.

Maloles was northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard, near Lomita Boulevard, when the driver of a southbound Ford Escape made a left turn, causing the motorcyclist to collide with the vehicle, said Torrance police Sgt. Alexander Martinez.

The 56-year-old driver of the Ford Escape escaped injury, and investigators do not believe she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to Martinez. Her name was not released.

Hawthorne Boulevard was closed between Lomita Boulevard and Skypark Drive while officers investigated the collision.
