Bacteria Warning Issued In Redondo Beach After 5K-Gallon Sewage Spill
Authorities issues bacteria warnings for multiple neighboring beaches after a major sewage spill near Palos Verdes.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Authorities issued a bacteria warning for Redondo Beach Pier after a major sewage spill at a Torrance beach.
Some 5,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled into Malaga Creek in Torrance Tuesday night, according to Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn. Additional details about the spill were not immediately available.
The spill closed RAT Beach near Palos Verdes at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, and the beach will remain closed until bacteria levels reach acceptable levels, according to the Los Angeles County Public Health Department.

In Redondo Beach, the spill prompted beach warnings for the beach at the pier.
The spill also prompted beach warnings for a number of nearby beaches that could have been affected by the spill, including Mother's Beach in Marina Del Rey, the Santa Monica Pier, Wilshire Blvd Storm Drain at Santa Monica Beach (North Tower 12) and Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro.
