Blotter: Car Crashes Into House

Officers from the dealt with a car crashing into a house, "suspicious juveniles" and a mugging, among other incidents, during the week of Oct. 20, according to the Recent Law Enforcement Events news release and the Part I crime re-cap.

Car crashes into house

A 14-year-old boy drove a car into a home in the 1100 block of Mackay Lane on the morning of Oct. 20, rupturing a gas line, according to police.

Originally, a woman told officers that she was the driver and the only one in the car; however, witnesses told officers that the boy was driving, police said.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of providing false information to officers and obstructing their investigation, and officers identified the boy and submitted a complaint for prosecution, police said.

The gas line was turned off without incident, police said, and the Traffic Unit continues to investigate.

Police: 'Suspicious juveniles' had stolen property

A group of juveniles were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property Oct. 20 after officers responded to a call about "suspicious juveniles" on in the 3500 block of Johnston Avenue, police said.

"During their investigation [officers] found them to be in possession of numerous pieces of stolen property," according to the RLEE release.

Officers also learned that some of the items the juveniles had was stolen in a burglary earlier that day in the 2200 block of Ruhland Avenue, police said.

According to the Part I crime statistics re-cap, burglars entered the home on Ruhland Avenue through an unlocked garage door and took an iPad, Kindle, Wii and a cell phone.

Victim: Mugger punched me in the face

Police have been investigating an Oct. 26 attempted mugging near the intersection of Knob Hill and Catalina avenues, according to the RLEE release.

The victim told officers that he was walking southbound on the Esplanade on when a person approached him and started talking to him, police said. A few minutes later, the victim saw two more people get out of a dark colored Ford Explorer parked across the street.

The three people surrounded the victim and demanded his belongings, police said. When the victim refused, the first person started punching him in the face.

The victim began yelling, and all three muggers ran back to the SUV and left, police said. Officers were unable to find them.

Paramedics treated the victim at the scene, police said.
