Chez Melange To Close After 37 Years In South Bay

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Chez Melange, a beloved South Bay restaurant, announced they will be closing their doors in February after 37 years in Redondo Beach.

To thank their patrons for the love and support they've received over the years, the restaurant will have a Farewell Tour where chefs will be cooking up hits from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. The restaurant will be closed by February 29 or sooner, the Chez Melange press release said.

When Chez Melange first opened in 1982, partners Michael Franks and Robert Bell wanted to combine American European and Asian fusion dishes into a menu that changed daily. The restaurant also offered farm-to-table food options straight from the Valmonte Gardens in Palos Verdes and incorporated sustainability into their practices, the press release said.

"It's emotional knowing that our last service is approaching," Franks and Bell said in a statement.
"We wouldn't have made this journey without you."

"Hi Everyone, Thank you. Thank you for your loyalty. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your support. You've been more than just wonderful and loyal customers since we opened in 1982; you've been our family and our friends. And after 37 years, the time has come to bid adieu to Chez Melange. Before we say a final goodbye though, we are taking the restaurant on a Farewell Tour! We will be cooking and dishing up all the hits from the 80s, 90s and 2000s and would love to see as many of you as possible during our nightly performances before the final curtain is lowered on February 29th or sooner. During this time, we expect to be whipping up hundreds of Fried Chicken Salads. Please reach out if there are any dishes you want to enjoy one more time!
