City Council Wants to See Full Impact Report Before Placing CARE Act on Ballot

Critics are calling the move a stall tactic.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Before an initiative aiming to tighten development on the Redondo Beach waterfront goes before voters next year, the City Council wants to see a thorough impact report, according to the Daily Breeze.

The council voted 3-2 to hold off on putting the King Harbor Coastal Access, Revitalization and Enhancement Act on the March 7 ballot until city staff finishes analyzing the report, the Daily Breeze reported. That means that it could come down to the wire if the council decides to adopt changes outlined in the CARE Act or send the issue to voters.

The council is slated to review the report on Nov. 29 and the full panel will have 10 days to make a decision, putting it close the Dec. 9 deadline to place the initiative on the March ballot.
