City Institutes New Park Rules

Redondo Beach will post new signs reminding visitors of the new rules at its parks.

The city of Redondo Beach recently introduced new rules for the city's parks banning portable barbecues and tents, according to a news release posted on the city's website.

Portable barbecues are no longer allowed because they're a fire hazard, according to the city. Residents can still use the built-in barbecues at , Franklin and Wilderness parks.

People who want to block off areas of parks or pitch tents must get a permit from the city first.

Roller skating, inline skating and bicycling are prohibited in most areas of the parks, though bicycles with wheels less than 16 inches in diameter are OK. Skateboarding, too, is prohibited in all parks except the portable skateboard area at Perry Park.

As before, the only dogs permitted in city parks are seeing-eye dogs; however, dogs are allowed in the of .

Smoking and alcoholic beverages are also prohibited.

The city is in the process of posting new signs with the updated rules.
