Coastal Commission To Consider Redondo Beach Waterfront Appeals

At the meeting Friday in San Diego, the commissioners will decide whether to consider the appeals from slow-growth activists.

REDONDO BEACH, CA ― Even though voters overwhelmingly passed a measure two months to halt the redevelopment of Redondo Beach's waterfront, the fate of the $400 million project is still in limbo.

The redevelopment and planned boat launch ramp will have their first hearing at the California Coastal Commission this week, according to the Daily Breeze. Regulators, however, won't determine the fate of the project at that meeting, the newspaper reported.

At the meeting Friday in San Diego, the commissioners will decide whether to consider the appeals from slow-growth activists. It seems like the commissioners are leaning toward taking up the appeals, according to the Daily Breeze.

If the commission does take up the appeals, both sides will return to the commission in the coming months to present their case. The panel will listen to comments from the public if at least three commissioners wish to hear them, the Daily Breeze reported.
