Drug Dogs on School Board's Agenda
The Board of Education is still considering whether to bring a drug-sniffing dog onto the high school campus.

The Redondo Beach Board of Education is set to make a decision by the end of the month about whether to bring a drug-sniffing dog to 's campus, the Easy Reader reported.
According to the Easy Reader, the board didn't make a decision at its Sept. 27 meeting because board member Laura Emdee was absent.

In June, when the 's Drug and Alcohol Task Force, board members expressed concern about where dogs would sniff.
The task force recommended a slow approach—just sniffing lockers and common areas.

Additionally, the school would use the 's K-9 unit to perform the sniff-searches at no cost to the district.
Right now, the K-9 unit has only one dog trained to detect narcotics. Officer Ken Greenleaf, who handled the other dog trained to find drugs, at the end of summer.
