DUI Checkpoint Scheduled For Friday In Redondo Beach

The Redondo Beach Police Department will increase patrols through Labor Day looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Redondo Beach Police Department will hold a DUI checkpoint on Friday at an undisclosed location in the city.

Friday's DUI checkpoint will take place from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.

As summer ends and Labor Day approaches, RBPD encouraged the community to prioritize safety on the roads. The police department will also have additional officers on patrol through Labor Day looking for drivers suspected of being under the influence.

“We want everyone to enjoy their end of Summer travels and Labor Day festivities, but it’s imperative to do so responsibly,” Officer Holley of the Redondo Beach Police Department said. “Driving under the influence not only puts your life at risk but also endangers everyone else on the road. Our goal is to reduce preventable crashes and save lives.”

Impaired driving doesn't just include alcohol, some prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, other illegal drugs and marijuana can also land someone a DUI.

First-time DUI charges can cost an average of $13,500 in fines and drivers could get their licenses suspended if convicted.
