DUI Checkpoint Set for Friday

The Redondo Beach Police Department will set up a DUI checkpoint from 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The Redondo Beach Police Department will conduct a driver's license and DUI checkpoint Friday from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. Sunday.

The checkpoint will occur at an undisclosed location within city limits, according to a news release from the department.

"The deterrent effect of DUI checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol- or drug-involved crashes," according to the department. "Research shows that crashes involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized checkpoints are conducted often enough."
