Ed Foundation Gets $300K Grant
A large donation from the Windsong Trust will be used to better prepare Redondo students for college.

A larger-than $300,000 donation to the Redondo Beach Educational Foundation—the largest organization's single donation to date—will fund college prep programming, including a "college readiness liaison," more elementary school science teachers, teacher grants and laptops for middle and high school students, according to a news release from the foundation. News of the grant was announced during Wednesday night's "State of Education" event at .
The donation, made by the private Windsong Trust, will be put to work during the 2011-2012 school year.
"We are so pleased to have a relationship with Windsong Trust, an organization that believes in making a difference and helping K-12 students … with their college preparedness," said RBEF President Brad Serkin in a statement.

"This is a very exciting time for our Ed Foundation," said RBEF Director of Business Affairs and board member Ted Craddock. Craddock worked with Windsong Trust on the grant. "We will always be dependent on our parental support via our events and annual donor drive—but tapping into other resources … will help impact our students' education tremendously."
