Fall Sports Wrap up Regular Season

Redondo Union High school's cross country teams and girls volleyball teams are heading to the postseason.

The fall sports season at is wrapping up, and the CIF Southern Section has released the final standings and coaches' polls for several sports. Redondo's cross-country and girls volleyball teams are continuing on to their respective CIF Southern Section-Ford playoffs, presented by Farmers.

Cross-Country

Both the girls and boys cross-country teams stayed in the top 10 of their respective coaches' polls, and both teams will compete Saturday in the preliminaries at Mt. Antonio College.

The girls team finished the season at No. 3 in the Division 2 coaches' poll, while the boys team finished at No. 8 in its poll. Final standings have not been released.

Girls Volleyball

Despite its and its No. 2 finish in the Bay League, Redondo remained out of the top 10 in the final coaches' poll. The Sea Hawks have a 6-2 Bay League record and are 21-15 overall.

The team will play Poly/Long Beach (19-12) on Tuesday night at Redondo.

Division 1-AA - Final Bay League Standings

  1. Mira Costa (7-1; 19-11)
  2. Redondo Union (6-2; 21-15)
  3. Palos Verdes (5-3; 15-16)
  4. Peninsula (1-7; 9-13)
  5. West Torrance (1-7; 10-16)

Boys Water Polo

The boys water polo team finished fourth overall in the Bay League with a league record of 2-6 and an overall record of 10-13. West Torrance, which only won one game during its season, was the only team to finish behind the Sea Hawks.

Girls Tennis

The Redondo girls tennis team finished last in the Bay league with a league record of 0-8 and an 8-12 overall record.

Football

Sea Hawk football still has one more game this season. Redondo Union will battle Mira Costa on Thursday night to determine who is No. 2 in the Bay League.
