How Many Inches Of Rain Were Recorded In Redondo Beach

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A powerful rainstorm shattered numerous records all over California Monday, and Redondo Beach wasn’t spared.

Redondo Beach saw 0.36 inches of rain from Monday at 8 a.m. PDT to Tuesday at 8 a.m. PDT, according to the California Nevada River Forecast Center, a collaboration between the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Downtown LA recorded 0.39 inches, Culver City 0.37, and Burbank 0.56.

By contrast, in October 2020, the LA Almanac reported 0 inches of rain in downtown Los Angeles.

While Southern California wasn’t clobbered like Northern and Central California – where a Category 5 atmospheric river and bomb cyclone brought flash floods, power outages, evacuation orders, highway closures, and much more – the NWS still issued a flood advisory across Los Angeles County, and several records were set.

Los Angeles International Airport saw a total of 0.39 inches, soaring past a record of 0.51 inches set in 1951, according to the National Weather Service. Long Beach Airport, which saw 0.13 inches of rain, also broke a record of 0.08 inches set in 2010.

Still, no major power outages, flooding, or evacuation orders were reported around Los Angeles County. The rest of the week is expected to be sunny and warm, with highs reaching the upper 80s in the San Fernando Valley. In Redondo Beach, it's expected to be sunny with some wind gusts in the evening.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 77. East southeast wind around 10 mph becoming west southwest in the afternoon.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 70.
