Jobless Rate Posts Slight Drop

The unemployment rate in Redondo Beach posted its second straight drop in September, according to preliminary numbers released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

September's unemployment rate for the city was measured at 6.5 percent, 0.3 percent below August's 6.8 percent rate and slightly more than half a percentage point below July's rate.

The unemployment rate in September 2011 was also 0.3 percent lower than it was in September 2010.

The drop came despite the addition of 280 people to the city's labor force.
