Judge Dismisses Fatal Collision Case
Edwin Roberts was accused of vehicular manslaughter in connection with the death of Redondo Beach resident Melania Nuhbegovic.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy who accidentally ran over a woman, killing her, at the intersection of Avenue C and the Esplanade in 2011 will not be retried on charges of vehicular manslaughter, according to the Daily Breeze's report on the judge's Thursday ruling.
Judge Chet Taylor declared a mistrial May 7 after the jury deadlocked 9-3 in favor of convicting Edwin Roberts of misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the July 4 death of Melania Nuhbegovic, 89, the Daily Breeze reported.
Though the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office declined to file felony charges against Roberts, the Redondo Beach City Prosecutor's Office filed the vehicular manslaughter charge.
