Local Runners Win July 4 5K
David Cardona of Torrance and Nathalie Highley of Redondo Beach win their divisions in the annual race.

South Bay runners took home the top honors at the annual Village Runner Fourth of July 5K Run/Community Walk on Thursday.
In the men's division, Torrance resident David Cardona, 21, took home the top prize with a time of 16:12. He was followed by Justin Cross, 28, with a time of 16:14, and South Gate resident Oswaldo Hurtado, 39, with a time of 16:15.
Redondo Beach resident Nathalie Higley, 43, won the women's division with a time of 17:38. She was followed by Whittier resident Andrea Palacio, 30, with a time of 18:02 and Torrance resident Kimberly Coscia, 16, with a time of 18:26.
More than 3,000 people participated in the annual race, which begins in Riviera Village in South Redondo Beach.
