Man In Critical Condition After Jumping Out Of Moving Car In South Bay
According to police, the man jumped out of the back of a moving car on Pacific Coast Highway early Sunday morning.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — A man in his early 20s is in critical condition after jumping from a moving car in Redondo Beach early Sunday morning, according to police.
At about 3:14 a.m. on Oct. 27, a male passenger of a car driving south in the 300 block of North Pacific Coast Highway opened a backseat door and jumped out. According to the Redondo Beach Police Department, the man hit the roadway hard enough to cause traumatic injuries.
"That passenger was treated by Redondo Beach Fire Paramedics and transported to a local hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries," RBPD said in a statement.

Two additional people were inside the car at the time of the incident, police said. The driver, a 22-year-old resident of San Pedro, was arrested after police evaluated them for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Authorities shut down Pacific Coast Highway in both directions between Diamond Street and Carnelian Street until 7:30 a.m. to investigate at the scene.
