Mayor Honors Local 'Top Chef' Brooke Williamson

Brooke Williamson receives a commendation from the city for her role in Top Chef: Seattle.

Brooke Williamson, who owns the Hudson House in South Redondo Beach with her husband, received a commendation from Redondo Beach Mayor Mike Gin at Tuesday's city council meeting for her success on Bravo's reality television show Top Chef.

Williamson competed in the show's 10th season, dubbed Top Chef: Seattle, and ended as the runner-up to winner Kristen Kish in the finale.

"This experience helped her to overcome her fear of heights, boats, helicopters and gain valuable experience," Gin told council meeting attendees. "We're just really honored to have (her) as part of our community."

Williamson, who competed against 15 other chefs and won five elimination challenges, accepted the commendation with grace.

"I don't know if the show makes it deserving, but I know that my husband and I can both say that we are more than proud that we are part of the Redondo Beach community," she said. "The restaurant has been incredibly busy, and we have the locals to thank for that … It has been the most supportive community that we could have ever hoped to be a part of."
