Memorial Service Set for Jeremy Perez

A memorial service for 7-year-old Jeremy Perez is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at 28th Street and The Strand in Manhattan Beach.

Jeremy died Friday after an delivery truck hit him as it backed into a loading dock area off Artesia Boulevard. He was declared dead at a local hospital.

Jeremy had been going to visit his mother, Trina Goodwin, at the grocery store. Goodwin had just begun to work there as a cashier that week.

The family has set up the Jeremy Perez Memorial Fund to help pay for burial costs. Donations can be made at any South Bay Wells Fargo branch to account No. 5180865940. Donations made online should be made to that account in the name of bank Vice President Jamal B. Shofani.

A collection can has also been set up at the Albertsons on Artesia Boulevard.
