Letter: New Parking Rules Rile Neighbors
Letter to the editor: The Vons on Beryl Street will stop allowing residents to park overnight in its lot.

Hello, my name is Michael Sidler. My wife, stepson and I live in Redondo Beach on Beryl Street across from the shopping center. Last week, Conway Real Estate Service posted a sign up stating that they would be repaving the parking lot and no longer allow for overnight parking.
Conway Real Estate Service representative Matthew Dunn claims that by the residents parking overnight there, we interfere with the parking for the customers. We are the customers!
At 1 a.m., there is nothing open over there and the "businesses" that are affected are the drug dealers and hookers that come around there.
We park away from the businesses so we don't affect them. I have spoken before with the manager at Vons, and he has no problems with the residents parking close to the street or off to the side. He recognizes the fact that they count on our business because we are the most consistent customers they have. There is not enough parking on the street for all the residents.

If the businesses and Conway Real Estate Service are dead set on the largest segment of their customer leaving and going elsewhere, then so be it. I have already spoken to many of my neighbors and they agree with me. If I need a 69-cent can of corn, then I will get in my car and drive roughly one mile to on PCH and buy that can of corn just so that I do not support ANY of the businesses across the street.
Thank you for you time,
