Northrup Grumman Hosts STEM Students in Assembling Prosthetic Hands in Redondo Beach

The event was held as part of National Manufacturing Day.

REDONDO BEACH, CA -- Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems in Redondo Beach hosted a group STEM students Friday in assembling prosthetic hands for children in need.

Volunteers from the company 3-D printer to make parts for affordable prosthetic hands and invited STEM students from Will Rodgers Middle School to Northrop's Redondo Beach campus to assemble the parts into functioning hands. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics and is part of the push to encourage more children into science and engineering careers.

In assembling the hands, the students will learn the latest manufacturing techniques as well as help a worthy cause. The fully assembled hands will be donated to children in need.
