One-of-A-Kind Rapid Response COVID Testing Coming to Torrance

A new state-of-the-art urgent care facility is bringing one-of-a-kind rapid response COVID testing to people who live and work in Torrance. American Family Care (AFC), the nation’s largest provider of urgent care and accessible primary care, is opening its newest location in Torrance on Thursday, January 13. AFC Torrance is equipped with in-house PCR testing equipment that produces COVID-19 results within 30 minutes, a turnaround that usually takes up to 48 hours at other doctors’ offices and urgent care centers.

“We know how frustrating it can be to wait days to find out if you might be COVID positive,” explains Dr. Sandeep Sodhi, medical director of AFC Torrance. “This type of PCR testing not only speeds up the wait time for results but can help slow down the spread of COVID in our community. When someone receives a positive result, they can immediately quarantine and limit exposure to others.”

The new AFC urgent care center in Torrance Crossroads Shopping Center on Crenshaw Boulevard will provide COVID testing, including Hawaii travel testing, as well as a comprehensive suite of medical services. The center is staffed with skilled and experienced medical professionals who are deeply committed to providing outstanding medical care.

• Large-Scale Availability – The new AFC can treat a large number of patients thanks to its seven exam rooms and dedicated staff.
• Laboratory on Site – AFC’s on-site laboratory provides a wide variety of lab work, including COVID-19 testing, COVID-19 travel testing, and flu testing. Most results are available within minutes.
• State-of-the-Art Diagnostics – Digital x-ray equipment allows AFC staff to take and read x-rays within minutes. Patients are provided with copies on a C.D. upon discharge.
• Occupational Health Exams and Workers’ Compensation Cases – These services include D.O.T. physicals, urine drug screens, and breath-alcohol tests.
