'The Pain Is Overwhelming': Man Killed In Boating Accident Identified
The children of a man who was killed after a boat capsized off the coast of the South Bay are fundraising for his funeral.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — Authorities Tuesday identified a man who died after a boat capsized a mile off the coast of Redondo Beach.
Rescue divers found Frederico Salguero, 56, trapped in the boat after it capsized on Sunday. Salguero's cause of death was listed as drowning, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner/Coroners Office.
Since Salguero's death, his children have organized a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral costs.

"While my siblings and I are grateful to have survived, the pain of losing him is overwhelming," Salguero's daughter America Oyuela wrote on GoFundMe. "This loss is even harder to bear as we also lost our mother, Ilia Verde, five years ago during the holiday season."
Authorities responded to reports about the overturned 25-foot boat at about 1 p.m. and found five people, including a child, clinging to the vessel. All five survivors were safely taken back to shore around 2:30 p.m.

It's unknown what caused the boat to capsize. The sheriff's department and the United States Coast Guard are investigating the incident.
