Photos: Cow, Calf Visit Madison
The Mobil Dairy Classroom visits Madison Elementary School in North Redondo Beach.
Students at got a surprise visit from a couple of four-legged animals Wednesday morning, courtesy of the Mobile California Dairy Classroom.
With a little help from a cow named Milky Way and a calf named Oreo, program manager Efrain Valenzuela taught students all about cattle and the milking process. Valenzuela even answered a few questions, including queries like, "Do cows have fingernails?" (Their hooves are like fingernails, Valenzuela said.)
The program is based out of Covina High School, and Valenzuela has been managing it for 13 years.

The program's goal, Valenzuela said, is to teach students to "make that connection between cow and container."
