Homeowners Warned Of Burglars Using Pizza Delivery As Ruse: Report
A woman was caught on security camera pretending to deliver a pizza while a hooded figure approached the back of a home in the South Bay.
TORRANCE, CA — Burglars were caught on surveillance camera using a pizza box as a cover while they attempted to break into a Torrance home in broad daylight, according to reports.
The resident, Undine Schwarz, shared the footage of the April 20 break-in with ABC 7. The video shows a woman approaching the front door of the home with a pizza box and knocking several times.
A person wearing a hoodie was then seen walking toward the back of the home.

Schwarz said she wasn't home when she got the security alert, but her home alarm system was triggered and the suspects retreated into a silver car parked on the curb.
"She went to the house and had a cardboard Domino's box, and most pizza delivery people have an enclosure to keep the pizza warm. In hindsight, that was a dead giveaway that it was not a real pizza delivery person," Schwarz told ABC 7. "But I'm very glad my alarm worked."

Nothing was reported stolen from the home, but Schwarz still decided to file a police report. She said she believes the burglary crew targeted her residence because they assumed nobody was home.
Anyone who may have additional information about the attempted burglary was urged to contact the police.
