Police Blotter: Apologetic Cat Burglar

Officers from the dealt with a cat burglar, a stolen jet ski and multiple incidents at the , among others, between March 14 and Wednesday, according to the Part I crime re-cap.
Cat Burglary
Police are looking for a cat burglar who snuck into a home in the 100 block of The Village at 4 p.m. on March 14. Police reports indicate that the person crept into the residence through an unlocked bedroom window.

Someone in the house spotted the burglar and confronted him; the burglar apologized and fled empty-handed.
The victim described the burglar as a 30-year-old Hispanic man standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds.

Thieves Hit South Bay Galleria
Last Friday, officers dealt with two thefts at the Galleria in North Redondo Beach. In the morning, officers arrested Kennedy Williams on suspicion of trying to steal watches from one of the stores in the mall.
According to the police report, Kennedy strolled into the store, selected the watches he wanted, used a tool to cut off the security sensors, hid the merchandise and walked out. He was arrested after, and police recovered the watches.
On Friday afternoon, one or more people used a saw and a pry tool to steal the cash box from a vending machine at the mall. Police did not say how much money was lost.
Beer Run
Police arrested Shaunt Ashikian on suspicion of stealing alcohol from a business in the 2100 block of Artesia Boulevard on the evening of March 14. According to police, he hid the alcohol and walked out. He was arrested after he returned later to steal more alcohol, police said.
Residential Burglary
A person stole a flat screen television from the "unsecured front area" of a house in the 1900 block of Belmont Lane at some point between late Sunday evening and early Monday morning. The person entered the home, removed property from a table and fled.
Car Burglaries
A driver who parked their Toyota Sienna in the 1700 block of Axenty Way on Sunday afternoon needed a new rear window on the passenger's side after someone smashed it; however, the person did not get into the car and nothing was stolen, police said.
Someone punched through the passenger door lock of a locked Chevrolet 1500 in the parking lot of the Galleria at some point last Saturday. The thief stole the car stereo, a wallet, a Blackberry cellphone and an iPod Touch.
In the 1600 block of Spreckles Lane between March 13 and 14, a person broke into an Infinity G35 via "unknown means," police said. He or she stole a laptop and portfolio.
Car Thefts
Two white 1997 Hondas were stolen in North Redondo Beach last weekend. The first, a 1997 Honda Accord, was taken from the 1600 block of Felton Lane; the second, a 1997 Honda Civic, disappeared from the parking lot of the Galleria.
A white 2000 Ziema Trailer carrying a yellow 2004 Bombardier jet ski and a red 2003 Bombardier inboard jet was stolen from the 500 block of North Prospect Avenue sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. Huntington Beach police recovered the jet ski and inboard jet on Wednesday.
