Redondo Beach City Councilman, Mayoral Candidate Bill Brand Investigated for Collusion

Fair Political Practices Commission is investigating whether Brand colluded with another candidate during his council run in 2012 and 2013

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Current Redondo Beach city councilman and mayoral candidate Bill Brand is being investigated by the Fair Political Practices Commission for collusion in previous political campaigns, according to The Beach Reporter.

Brand confirmed to the Beach Reporter he received a copy of the complaint and has sent a response. The complaint alleges that between 2012 and 2013 Brand colluded to share campaign funds with Jim Light, who was running for city council at the time, and coordinated with the Yes on A campaign, an initiative to retire the power plant in Redondo Beach, during his council run.

A former Redondo Beach councilman, Don Szerlip, filed the complaint after he noticed irregularities in the financial disclosure forms for the candidates and committees.
