The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Part I Crime Recap news release covering reports received May 3 through Wednesday.

Commercial robbery in Redondo Beach

A man tried to leave a business in the 1200 block of Aviation Boulevard on Sunday morning without paying for items. When employees confronted him, he pushed an employee and fled. The loss was unknown. Witnesses described the culprit as a 6-foot-tall, 170-pound white man in his 30s.

Street robbery in Redondo Beach

On May 1 near the intersection of Barkley Lane and Robinson Avenue, a man approached a victim from behind and grabbed a Kindle from the victim before fleeing. The culprit was described as a 5-foot-9-inch, 185-pound, Hispanic man in his 20s.

Commercial burglaries in Redondo Beach

Melissa Catalan was arrested at the South Bay Galleria around noon Sunday. According to police, she entered an open business, chose merchandise and cut off the sensor tags before attempting to leave. No loss was reported as the items were recovered.

Someone smashed the front door of a business in the 2300 block of Artesia Boulevard between April 30 and May 1. Once inside, the burglar ransacked the property and stole a basket, money and a Visa card before fleeing.

Residential burglaries in Redondo Beach

A Santa Cruz Heckler mountain bike was stolen from the open garage of a home in the 500 block of South Maria Avenue on Sunday morning.

Two laptops and a cellphone were stolen from a home in the 1900 block of Nelson Avenue last Friday morning. The burglar got in by pushing open an unsecured kitchen window.

Someone entered an underground crawlspace and smashed a hole in the drywall to gain access to a residence in the 1000 block of Camino Real last Friday afternoon. No loss was reported.

An Electra Custom beach cruiser bicycle was stolen from an open garage early last Friday morning in the 1000 block of Pruitt Drive.

Vehicle burglary in Redondo Beach

Someone smashed the front passenger window of a 2007 Mercedes Benz in the 200 block of North Harbor Drive on May 1 and stole a leather wallet with a social security card, driver's license and ATM card.
