Redondo Beach Crime: Hiding Under the Bed

The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Recent Law Enforcement Events news release covering reports received April 22 through Sunday.

Naked Inmate

A naked female inmate at the Redondo Beach Jail hid herself under the bed in her jail cell and refused to come out when jailers were preparing inmates for court, police said.

Officers responded at about 7 a.m. Thursday. They "extracted" her from her cell and took her to court.

Felony warrants and narcotics

Officers on routine patrol at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday observed a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Pearl Street and Pacific Coast Highway in South Redondo Beach, according to police.

Police conducted a traffic stop on suspicion of traffic violations and subsequently arrested the driver and a passenger on felony warrants and suspicion of possession of stolen property.

Officers that searched the pair's motel room discovered narcotics paraphernalia.

Burglaries on the Redondo Beach Pier

Two businesses on the Redondo Beach Pier reported burglaries on April 22, according to police.

In the first, the burglar pried open the door of the business overnight and stole money from the cash registers. In the second, the culprit pried open the door and cut the safe.

Crime scene investigators checked for evidence at both businesses. The investigation is ongoing.
