Redondo Beach Crime: Taxi Driver Threatened

The following information is from the Redondo Beach Police Department's Part I Crime Recap news release covering reports received April 25 through Thursday, as well as the Torrance Police Department's online crime map.

Commercial robbery in Redondo Beach

Ernesto Sanson was arrested April 24 shortly after 10:10 a.m. in connection with what police called a robbery near the intersection of Harbor Drive and Pacific Avenue. According to police, Sanson did not pay his cab fare and threatened to stab the taxi driver with a pen before stealing the driver's cellphone.

Sanson also spit on the arresting officer, police said.

Commercial burglaries in Redondo Beach

At some point between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, a burglar smashed the window of a business in the 600 block of North Pacific Coast Highway and stole an unknown amount of cash from an ATM.

Ashaad Edwards, Brandon Johnson, Jamina Frasier, Arneisha Edwards and a male juvenile were arrested Wednesday in connection with a burglary at the South Bay Galleria. According to police, the group entered a store and forced open a locked jewelry counter display. They removed jewelry and left without paying. No loss was reported.

Someone climbed over the fence of Valor Academy on Earle Lane on April 28-29, ransacked school lockers, food storage chests and a locked storage shed. Food items were stolen.

Yolanda Bozeman was arrested April 27 in connection with a burglary in the South Bay Galleria. According to police, she entered an open business and removed items without paying. No loss was reported.

Keenan Holt and Wenisha Stewart were arrested in connection with a burglary in the South Bay Galleria. According to police, the pair tried to get gift cards by returning items without receipts. They were using someone else's driver's license, and police suspect possible identity theft, officers aid. No loss was reported.

Residential burglaries in Redondo Beach

Michael Bradford was arrested last Tuesday in connection with a burglary in the 2800 block of Fisk Lane. According to police, he entered an unlocked garage and stole a bicycle.

Someone entered a home in the 2000 block of Vanderbilt Lane on April 25 and stole jewelry.

Residential burglaries in the Hollywood Riviera

On April 25, someone broke into a home in the 300 block of Calle de Andalucia by prying a window open. The house was ransacked, and cash, jewelry and documents were stolen.

A house in the 200 block of Calle de Sirenas was ransacked between the early morning of April 25 and the afternoon of April 26. Police believe the burglar entered through an unlocked door. The loss was unknown at the time of the police report.

A burglar ransacked a home in the 500 block of Paseo de las Estrellas on April 25 and stole coin collections and jewelry. Police don't know how the burglar entered the residence.

Vehicle burglaries in Redondo Beach

Someone last Tuesday punched out the door lock of a 2008 Chevy Tahoe parked in the 200 block of Avenida del Norte and stole a Dell laptop, a GPS, camping and beach gear, and an iPad.

The front window of a 2013 Honda CRV in the 2000 block of Ernest Avenue was smashed April 21. The thief took an iPhone and a makeup bag.

Stolen vehicles in Redondo Beach

A red 1995 Honda CBR 900 RR motorcycle, license plate No. 15H7138, was stolen between the evening of April 29 and last Tuesday morning from the 2400 block of Clark Lane.

A white 2006 Ford E250 van that had been stolen between April 27 and 28 from the 2600 block of 182nd Street was recovered April 28 by officers from the Long Beach Police Department.

A silver 2012 Chrysler Town & Country stolen at the end of January from the 2400 block of Harriman Lane was recovered April 25 by officers from the Hawthorne Police Department.
