Redondo Beach Police Officer Cut by Homeless Woman

The officer suffered superficial cuts and did not require treatment.

Redondo Beach, CA -- A homeless woman attacked a Redondo Beach police officer with a knife, injuring him as he was escorting her out of a shopping mall, police said.

The woman was causing a disturbance at the South Bay Galleria at around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday and police were called.

The woman, identified as Alexis West, 21, was told she was trespassing and needed to leave, police said.

As the officer was escorting West out the mall, she pulled out a folding knife and swung at the officer several times, superficially cutting him in the neck, police said.

The officer did not require medical treatment.

West was pinned down by the officer with the help of mall security and handcuffed. She was arrested for attempted murder on a police officer.
