Redondo Beach Steps into Social Media Age
The city council approved a plan that will allow the city to establish a social media presence.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Unlike many of its neighbors, Redondo Beach does not have an official social media presence, including Facebook. Now, The city of Redondo Beach will finally establish a social media presence, the Daily Breeze reports.
The City Council approved a new social media policy Tuesday. It's a one-year pilot program for the city transit, cultural arts and police department. The police department especially wants to reach a wider audience to disseminate information.
The department will still use Nixle to send out information, but wants to start using Snapchat, Instagram and Twitter.

“We’re not going to have 13-year-olds subscribing to Nixle,” Redondo Beach Police Chief Keith Kauffman said.
