Redondo Beach Woman Pays for Stranded Mexican Youth Baseball Team's Day at Disneyland

The team learned upon its arrival in Los Angeles that its private backers back home had pulled out, leaving the team stranded.

Redondo Beach, CA — A Redondo Beach woman went above and beyond when she learned of a Mexican youth baseball team being stranded in Southern California after its sponsors backed out — she paid for the entire team to spend the day at the happiest place on earth.

Elda Lugo Crampton, who owns So-Cal Freight, LLC, paid for a trip to Disneyland for the team of 16 and its coaching staff, NBC Los Angeles reported.

The team, the Abejorros, learned upon their arrival in Los Angeles that the private sponsors from their hometown of Aguascalientes in central Mexico pulled out of paying for the team's month-long tournament stay in Southern California.

"The boys after all they have been going through, they need a day to relax and enjoy themselves," Crampton told the station.

A GoFundMe page, which was set up to raise funds for the team, has raised $12,155 so far in eight days. The Abejorros, which means bumblebees in Spanish, will be playing in the tournament until July 30.
