Redondo Residents Report Feeling Santa Barbara Earthquake

The magnitude-4.8 earthquake that struck off the coast of Santa Barbara Wednesday morning was apparently strong enough to rattle some residents in Redondo Beach.

According to data compiled by the U.S. Geological Survey, at least four Redondo Beach residents reported feeling the earthquake Wednesday morning.

Residents who reported feeling the quake only reported feeling "weak" shaking.

The moderate earthquake was centered in the ocean off Santa Barbara and struck at 7:38 a.m., the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The extremely shallow quake struck in the Santa Barbara Channel 12 miles west of Santa Barbara with a magnitude of 4.8, which packs the punch to cause moderate damage.
