Roundabouts Coming to Redondo Beach
The city will test the traffic circles to see if they will reduce traffic accidents.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — In the coming months, mini traffic circles will start appearing in Redondo Beach. The city is testing the idea five residential neighborhoods to see if they will reduce traffic collisions, the Daily Breeze reported.
On Tuesday, the City Council approved a pilot program where one four-way stop intersection in each council district will get the roundabouts. They would be slowly introduced and stay up for three to six months.
The idea is to force drivers to slow down at the intersections and hopefully reduce right-angle crashes. A study by the Institute of Transportation Engineers how that traffic circles reduce crashes at intersections by an average of 70 percent.
