Sally Ride Science to Host Event for Educators at Northrop Grumman

About 50 educators and administrators from Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles and Long Beach, among others, will gather at Northrop Grumman's Space Park on Saturday to learn about science, technology, engineering and math—or STEM—programs from Sally Ride Science.

According to a news release about the event, participants will learn "how to ignite student interest in STEM." As part of the program, educators will receive professional development credit and other educational resources for classrooms.

“The benefits of exciting students about science extend far beyond improved test scores,” said Dr. Karen Flammer, co-founder of Sally Ride Science. “We want to help teachers get their students thinking about their futures and the possibilities that exist for them in STEM careers."

The Sally Ride Science Educator Institute is sponsored by the Northrop Grumman Foundation.
