Services Set for GOP Strategist Stephen Kinney

Redondo Beach resident Stephen Kinney died Sunday. He was 69.

Services have been scheduled for Redondo Beach resident and GOP strategist Stephen M. Kinney, who succumbed over the weekend to cancer, according to the Sacramento Bee's Capitol Alert blog.

According to the Daily Breeze, Kinney, 69, died Sunday after a 16-year battle with prostate cancer.

Kinney was a partner of Public Opinion Strategies LLC, a public affairs research company, and he represented Republican leaders like former Gov. Pete Wilson, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe and Rep. Doug Ose, among others, according to his Public Opinion Strategies biography.

He previously served as the regional director for the Pacific Region for the Republican National Committee, and at one point, he represented former Gov. George Deukmejian.

A 38-year resident of California, Kinney was born and raised in New Mexico and served in the U.S. Air Force. He received his bachelor of science degree from Sterling College.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia, according to Capitol Alert.

Services will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, located at 301 Avenue D in South Redondo Beach, on June 4 at 1 p.m., according to Capitol Alert.
